Some bandits from Zamfara disclosed that they have fled Zamfara state to set up presence in Bullazu and Gangara villages of Sabon Birni local area of Sokoto state in anticipation of troops from neighbouring Niger Republic, coming to assist their Nigerian counterparts to help curtail the menace ravaging the area. Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba has demanded the suspension of Abba Kyari from the police force on charges of accepting bribes from Hushpuppy.  The IGP also set up a four-member committee headed by DIG Joseph Egbunike to investigate allegations against Abba Kyari, deputy commissioner of police and head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT).  Usman Alkali recommended the suspension in a letter to the Police Service Commission on Saturday, saying the measure was "one of the disciplinary measures of the police force".  Abba Kyari is accused of accepting bribes from a young Nigerian and American resident Ramon Abbas, better known as Hushpuppy, for arresting and abusing a business associate.  Kyari has denied the allegations.

A Nigerian military plane has crashed in the northwestern state of Zamfara after being opened fire by robbers.
