Fake Messages Sent by Nigerians on WhatsApp

WhatsApp users, especially in Nigeria, have been hit hard after a message was sent saying that their accounts would be closed if they did not send the message to at least 20 numbers. The text message and voicemail in Hausa and English are said to have come from "WhatsApp Director Varun Pulyani." The message also said that the company was sold to Mark Zuckerberg, the person who owns Facebook and Instagram, so sending the message will cause your "WhatsApp logo to change to a new icon with Facebook 'f' in 24 hours.  "The message said. Gunmen Killed Six During a Campaign Rally in Nigeria

Reports say atleast six people have been killed in a militant attack in Nigeria's southeastern state of Anambara. People lost their lives in the exchange of fire between security forces and gunmen, and there were several casualties in the blaze that lasted more than two hours in a local government area, and it was gathered that governor Willie Obiano was among the victims. Last month police reported that they would deploy six helicopters to assist security forces ahead of next month's elections to be held on November 6. Nigeria: South-East Governors on IPOB

Leaders in southeastern Nigeria have condemned the sit-in by the separatist group IPOB for forcing the people of the region on Monday. In a statement, following a meeting of regional leaders comprising of south-eastern governors, traditional rulers and religious leaders in Enugu on Tuesday they also condemned the killings in the region. The leaders took action as an order by the IPOB forced the local community to cripple business activities in the region.  However, the leaders of the South-East did not comment on IPOB President Nnamdi Kanu in a statement issued after the meeting where they reached a consensus and outlined eight steps. Bandits Flee Zamfara Attacks, Dominate Sokoto

Some bandits from Zamfara disclosed that they have fled Zamfara state to set up presence in Bullazu and Gangara villages of Sabon Birni local area of Sokoto state in anticipation of troops from neighbouring Niger Republic, coming to assist their Nigerian counterparts to help curtail the menace ravaging the area. There has been escalation of bandits’ attacks on Sabon Birni, and neighbouring local governments recently, including one on a military base at Burkusuma where at least 15 personnel were killed, and many others injured last weekend. Tantabara News confirmed from sources that the attack was carried out by gunmen from the gangs of notorious bandits’ leader, Turji, with others loyal to Halilu Sububu.
