Leaders in southeastern Nigeria have condemned the sit-in by the separatist group IPOB for forcing the people of the region on Monday. In a statement, following a meeting of regional leaders comprising of south-eastern governors, traditional rulers and religious leaders in Enugu on Tuesday they also condemned the killings in the region. The leaders took action as an order by the IPOB forced the local community to cripple business activities in the region. However, the leaders of the South-East did not comment on IPOB President Nnamdi Kanu in a statement issued after the meeting where they reached a consensus and outlined eight steps.
