Russia's president says his country recognizes them as independent nations. But what do we know about Donetsk and Luhansk? In 2014 the separatists successfully occupied a vast territory in the two regions and have since declared the establishment of the Donetsk Republic (DNR) and the Luhansk Republic (LNR), on the border with Russia. Ukraine calls them "temporary occupied territories" - as in the case of Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. But they all depend on financial and military support from Russia. National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Disburses 100,000 as a Loan to 108 Agricultural Empowerment Scheme Beneficiaries in Sokoto

The state Coordinator of the agency said this was to enable the beneficiaries to be self reliant and contribute their quota to the development of the country. She said the programme was a combined orientation made up of 108 beneficiaries of Agricultural Empowerment Scheme, Community Based Agricultural Empowerment Scheme, Sustainable Agricultural Development Empowerment Scheme and Graduate Agricultural Empowerment Scheme that were given loans of N100, 000 each. Mrs. Danmallam added that the beneficiaries are graduates of NDE agricultural Extension, Poultry and Vegetable production. She said the money disbursed to them was a loan facility which would attract a single digit simple interest rate of 9 % and will have a moratorium of six months before beneficiaries will start paying back and it is repayable in three years.  Therefore, urged the them to ensure timely repayment to enable other unemployed persons to also benefit. Bandits Burnt 42 Passengers in Sokoto

Reports from northern Nigeria's Sokoto State say gunmen have set fire to a passenger car carrying 42 people. Buhari Attends An Exhibition in South Africa.

Presidential spokesman Femi Adeshina said Buhari would attend the meeting, which will be held from November 15 to 21, organized by AFREXIM Bank in collaboration with the African Union and the African Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA).   The theme of this year's event is, "Working for Common Business in Africa", which is expected to boost trade and investment among African countries, while Adeshina said the conference was an attempt to create a conducive environment for  trade and investment in Africa as a whole. Buhari Mourns the Loss of Nigerian Soldiers.

Photo - Nigerian Army Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum are mourning the death of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu by ISWAP militants on Saturday. The president said he was "deeply saddened" by the news of the death of the general and three other soldiers who were ambushed by gunmen in Askira Uba, Borno State.  "I am not happy about the death of General Dzarma Zirkusu and the three soldiers who sacrificed their lives. Nigeria has lost its courage. I commend their efforts. May God have mercy on them," Buhari said in a statement from his palace. The Nigerian Union of Railways (NUR) To Go On Nationwide Strike

The National Union of Railways (NUR) and its senior staff, SSA, have ordered the National Railways Commission (NRC) to go on a three-day nationwide strike from Thursday, November 18th, 2021, on insecurity. Kanu Lawyer Has Been Barred From Entering Court Five Times

A lawyer who came from the United States to defend Nnamdi Kanu said it was the fifth time he had been barred from entering court by security forces on Wednesday. Mr Bruce Fein alleges that he was the only DSS officer trying to prevent him from participating in the case. "I am his foreign lawyer and despite assurances that the accused can see all his lawyers but this is the fifth time I have been barred from entering his (Kanu's) presence," he said. Speaking to reporters shortly after the adjournment, the team of lawyers threatened to change the court because they felt their client would not be treated fairly. "Based on what we saw today, we do not think this court will do us justice, so we will draw from what we saw today," said one of the lawyers. The Judge, Binta Nyako adjourned the case to January 19th and 20, 2022.

NDE Trains 180 Youth on Advanced Business in Sokoto

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), in Sokoto has successfully trained no fewer than 180 beneficiaries of Special Public Works, on Advanced Business Training. Speaking at the end of the two days training on Tuesday at Fatima College of Nursing Sciences in Sifawa, Bodinga Local Goverment of Sokoto State, the Director-General (DG) of NDE, Malam Abubakar Fikpo urged the participants to put the training into practice. Fikpo said this would make them to be self-reliant and employers of labour. Represented by Sokoto State NDE Coordinator Mrs Euniche J. Danmallam, the DG said the training was aimed at empowering participants to make judicious use of the allowances paid by the Federal Government. According to her, Sokoto State as one of the benefiting states with 23 Local Governments recruited 23,000 youths to participate in the program which lasted three months at the end of which participants were paid 60,000 naira as their allowances.
